MKE4Kids x Barbershop Books Collaboration

We’re excited to roll out a new program in partnership with Barbershop Books, a national organization that expands reading opportunities for historically excluded populations through child-centered, culturally relevant, and community-based programming and content. Today, more than 82% of Black male 4th grade students in the U.S. are not proficient in reading. Low reading achievement among Black boys today will produce Black men who are ill-prepared to compete in the workforce of tomorrow. (Barbershop Books)

Mighty Small Moments happen anywhere.

We’re encouraging families to create #mightysmallmoments by offering free haircuts to children ages 1-8 at two partner locations: P’s Classic Kutz (5194 N. Teutonia Ave.) and 2 Kings Barbershop (3536 W Fond du Lac Ave) every Tuesday from 3p-6p from August-October. During the appointment, families and children will have the opportunity to explore kid-sized bookshelves and a curated set of fun books to read.

Book Your Appointment

Appointments Required. Limit one haircut per family. Child must be between ages 1-8.
