Mighty Small Moments Partner LaundryCares Foundation receives 2024 Literacy Awards from the Library of Congress!
We are SO excited to share that our partner, LaundryCares Foundation, was nationally recognized as a Library of Congress Announces 2024 Literacy Awards recipient!
The Library of Congress Literacy Awards program, sponsored by David M. Rubenstein since 2013, and also by the Kislak Family Foundation since 2023, honors promising initiatives that provide exemplary, innovative and replicable strategies that promote literacy (Source: https://newsroom.loc.gov/).
Founded in 2006, LaundryCares Foundation provides early literacy programming for children and families in under-resourced communities by transforming everyday, frequently visited spaces such as laundromats into welcoming environments for learning. LaundryCares Foundation’s Family Read, Play & Learn spaces can be found in more than 150 laundromats across the country, including Milwaukee! Earlier this year, we partnered with LaundryCares Foundation to install a “Read, Play & Learn” space at Quick Wash Laundromat on . The installation has become a place for families to bond with their children and enrich their development. It was also featured locally by Spectrum News.
We couldn't be prouder of LaundryCares Foundation for this remarkable achievement and the essential work they’re doing both locally and nationally. By creating enriching, educational environments in laundromats, they are truly transforming everyday spaces into powerful learning hubs for families. Their Family Read, Play & Learn spaces are helping to build stronger communities by fostering early literacy and supporting families in meaningful ways.
